Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón was born on 6 July 1907 in Coyoacán, a village on the outskirts of Mexico City and died on july 13, 1954.
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico.
She painted real women and real experiences.
Frida deviated from the traditional depiction of female beauty in art and instead chose to paint raw and honest experiences that so many women face. Her subject matter included abortion, miscarriage, birth and breastfeeding, among other things, often seen as taboo and like many female experiences altogether ignored.
Frida smoked, boxed, won tequila challenges against men, and dressed like a man in a family portrait, contrasting to her mother and sisters who wore dresses. She refused to alter her ‘masculine’ features, including her mono-brow and faint moustache, and actually exaggerated these features in her self portraits.

Marie-Jeanne Lamartiniére
At the Battle of Crête-à-Pierrot In Haiti(4 March–24 March 1802), Marie Jeanna fought in a male uniform standing along the fort’s ramparts bearing both a rifle and a sword. She made a great impression with her fearlessness and courage, and was said to use the long rifle to snipe on the wounded French soldiers. It is said to have boosted the morale of her colleagues with her bravery.

À la bataille de Crête-à-Pierrot (4 mars-24 mars 1802), Marie Jeanne combat en uniforme considéré a l’époque comme un uniforme masculin, debout le long des remparts du fort, portant à la fois un fusil et une épée. Elle a fait grande impression par son intrépidité et son courage, et on disait qu’elle utilisait le long fusil pour tirer sur les soldats Français blessés. On dit qu’elle a remonté le moral de ses collègues par sa bravoure. -

“Tonmtonm is a Haitian dish that is made with mashed breadfruit as the main ingredient. Sometimes, it is combined with okra or sweet potatoes. It is traditionally made in a large, deep mortar with a long pestle. Some believe that the name of the dish comes from the sound that the large pestle produces when it is stamped in the mortar. When tonmtonm is mashed, it is then gathered, shaped into a ball, and served as an accompaniment to kalalou gonbo.”
