At the Battle of Crête-à-Pierrot In Haiti(4 March–24 March 1802), Marie Jeanna fought in a male uniform standing along the fort’s ramparts bearing both a rifle and a sword. She made a great impression with her fearlessness and courage, and was said to use the long rifle to snipe on the wounded French soldiers. It is said to have boosted the morale of her colleagues with her bravery.

À la bataille de Crête-à-Pierrot (4 mars-24 mars 1802), Marie Jeanne combat en uniforme considéré a l’époque comme un uniforme masculin, debout le long des remparts du fort, portant à la fois un fusil et une épée. Elle a fait grande impression par son intrépidité et son courage, et on disait qu’elle utilisait le long fusil pour tirer sur les soldats Français blessés.
